I swear I did more than JUST play opera this summer...

September 27, 2017

With temperatures in the 90s these last few days, it certainly doesn't feel like the beginning of fall! With rehearsals having recently started up for the 2017-2018 concert season, it's time to look back on what a whirlwind of a summer it's been! If you've been following my blog this summer, you know I've spent most of it in an opera pit... but before I left for Miami, I was up to a few more musical adventures. (Side note, if you haven't read up on my Miami adventures... check out my blog posts titled, "Tales from the Pit").

My summer adventures kicked off on Memorial Day, when I flew off to NYC to attend my fourth Starling-DeLay Symposium on Violin Studies at the Juilliard School. The five day symposium was jam packed with classes on topics ranging from Music for Four Violins to studying Beethoven manuscripts, masterclasses by Shmuel Ashkenasai, Paul Kantor, and more, and attending recitals by Areta Zhulla and Sirena Huang. It's so surreal to me that I've attended FOUR symposia thus far. Every symposium, I walk away with so many new colleagues from around the world, and always so inspired to be the best violinist I can possibly be. I absolutely cannot wait for the next one in 2019! See highlights from this year's symposium in the gallery below:

A trip to NYC isn't complete without a little bit (okay.. A LOT) of shopping, so I stayed in the city for a few extra days to do just that and more! At the time, the Tony awards were fast approaching, and I definitely caught "Tony Fever" and managed to squeeze in a total of five (!!) Broadway shows.

With less than a week in between NYC and Miami, I was able to squeeze in a performance in Wisconsin! Performing a Beatles show with Classical Mystery Tour and the Sheboygan Symphony was unlike any other concert I've done before, and was a blast!

This weekend kicks off the 2017-2018 season! I have a wide variety of performances coming up, and will be performing all over the Wisconsin and Chicago areas. My fall calendar has just been updated, so check it out to see where I'll be performing next!
