I'm so happy to be back in Miami this summer performing as an opera fellow for the Miami Music Festival. I love following opera orchestras on social media, and was inspired to create this new blog series to give you all a behind the scenes look at what the MMF Opera Musicians have been up to! This past weekend was opening weekend for the festival and was jam packed with performances!
Opening weekend consisted of two operas: Offenbach's the Tales of Hoffmann and Janacek's the Cunning Little Vixen. Although we only have one performance a day, we were hard at work every morning of opening weekend with dress rehearsals for different casts. Life became "Eat, Sleep, Opera, Repeat" very fast, and I was loving every minute of it.
During intermission at every performance, the violins came up with a tradition to take a section photo. Check out our photos from each night! We're looking for photo ideas for our next round of operas - comment below if you have any!
4 performances. 2 operas. 2 Maestros. 1 hardworking opera orchestra.
It's hard to believe that we've wrapped up two opera productions already! This week, the MMF opera musicians get a break from opera to focus on chamber music and to work with the MMF Conducting Institute... but I'm already dying to get back into "Eat, Sleep, Opera" mode again!
